I recently came across this video clip from Dr. Oz show on Epidural Steroid Injections. A lot of our new patients who come into our Roseville California Disc Center Clinic for non-surgical decompression have had or are considering having these injections.
Over the years, I have referred many people out for Epidural Steroid Injections. Most of these patients are in severe pain, and may not even be able to lie on their backs for spinal decompression due to the pain in their back or running down their leg. Though I don’t really like the concept of steroids to reduce pain, like most of you, I really thought that for a one time application to help people be able to get the treatment that would help their condition, it was worth the minimal risk. After watching this video, which I will share in two parts, I am now going to be much more careful and thoughtful when I recommend it.
It still amazes me to this day how corrupt and ignorant our health care system truly is – You will learn in this video that not only are Epidural Steroid Injections not FDA approved for Disc injuries, that the risks for permanent, serious injury may be substantially higher than you have been told or that you are willing to risk. But Medicare, and most insurances still are ready to pay up to $2000 for these procedures. No wonder doctors are so happy to do them! It is a corrupt system that encourages and pays for treatments that have short term results with risks of severe side effects, but unwilling to consider paying for a treatment like spinal decompressions which has been proven to be highly effective and extremely safe.
Please watch this video, and decide for yourself. If you are suffering from a disc injury like a bulge or herniation, or spinal disc degeneration and stenosis, please give our office a call and come in for a free consultation.
